Spin is a desperate appeal to mean something. It’s about wanting to matter and wanting to feel real.

Tom Cunningham of The Trusted

UK-based indie rock band The Trusted return with “Spin,” and from the first few bars it feels like the kind of indie rock anthem built for open windows and sunny days. There is an infectious immediacy to it. Bright, jangly guitars collide with a slightly gritty undercurrent, creating a vibrant foundation that pulls you in before the chorus even arrives.

The verses ride on a commanding bass line that adds a propulsive edge, giving the track that feel-good indie pop bounce. When the chorus hits, singer Tom Cunningham takes full control. His vocal is the true hook here, especially as he belts out, “I wanna be your real thing. I wanna make you spin.” It is instantly memorable, tailor made for festival crowds and sing-along moments. The production deserves a nod as well, with guitars delicately positioned to drive the energy without overpowering Cunningham’s presence.

There is a soaring bridge that tips the track into a dopamine-fuelled rush, elevating its emotional resonance and reinforcing the song’s central desire for something real in an increasingly artificial world. That balance between punchy commercial energy and honest sentiment gives “Spin” its staying power, weaving in flashes of The 1975’s sheen and The Clash’s grit, all delivered with unmistakable swagger that is synonymous with this four-piece.

Following 2025’s “Levitate,” which landed on our Top Tracks of 2025 list, this feels like another defining moment. “Spin” is hook heavy, arena ready, and more proof that the secret is out on this band. My Music Mixtape
